A Day at Disney- Magic Kingdom

So you want to go to Disney for a day but aren’t sure how to maximize your time there??

Over the next four blog posts, I’m going to help you navigate each park so that you can decide how to make it the most Magical trip! First stop is Magic Kingdom. When I tore my ACL back in October of 2018, I had two extra Disney tickets left over from an ex that were going to expire before I could walk again. Unfortunately, none of my friends could go before my ACL surgery. So i went alone!

My first time at Disney solo- November 2018

Now before you start feeling pity for me, I LOVE going to Disney alone now. But for my first time I was a little nervous how it’d go. My good friend Talyn is a major Disney lover and platinum passholder, so she put together my Perfect day at Disney. Below are some tips along with a general itinerary to conquer the day with ease!

Pro Tips

- If you want to be the first one in the park, book a dining reservation before the park opens & you can be waiting for that favorite ride right when it opens. Just know it’s a $10 no show fee. The morning is also the best time for those solo castle photos!

-Bring your own water bottle that is reusable. You will save money and can fill it up around the park.

-Pick most of your fast passes in the morning, since once you use the three up you can get more.

Get those Fast Passes

  • Space Mountain

    • They actually no longer have a single rider line for this ride, which is a bummer! Make sure you grab a fast pass for this one, I’d say to try for the morning or later in the day so you can either start or end in Tomorrowland.

  • Thunder Mountain

    • The least entertaining wait, as well as totally outside when waiting. This one is absolutely worth the fast pass.

  • Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin

    • The wait isn’t usually terrible for this one, but it’s one of my favorite rides so I always get one!

  • Seven Dwarfs Train

    • If you haven’t done this one yet, I’d say it’s worth the wait…But as the newest coaster ride at Magic Kingdom, you are looking at 120 minutes on AVERAGE. The ride is better if you can snag a fast passes otherwise go there first thing when entering the park.

  • Splash Mountain

    • I avoid this ride because i don’t like walking around the park soaked. But if its a hot Florida day & you want to do this ride, try for the early afternoon times.

  • Haunted Manson

    • Again, not one of the top ones to grab a fast pass, but it’s a classic especially if the other top ones are out of fast passes.

ITINERARY

*Arrive between 8 & 9am*

8am Breakfast- Be Our Guest or Sleepy Hollow

  • If you are in the park before it opens, I HIGHLY suggest finishing breakfast and heading straight to the Seven Dwarfs train ride since it is impossible to get fast passes and the line is on average a 120min wait.

TOMORROWLAND

  • Monsters Inc. Laugh floor

  • Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin

  • FP- Space Mountain
  • Carousel of Progress (As Talyn says, you gotta do it at least once)

  • Speedway

11:30am Lunch at Casey’s Corner

  • Be sure to try their mini corndogs

  • This is also the best area to watch the Move it! Shake it! Street Party right out on Main Street

ADVENTURELAND

  • Tiki Room

  • Pirates of the Caribbean

  • Jungle Cruise

  • Aloha Isle- Grab some pineapple dole whip- the lines are long for a reason!

2pm Festival of Fantasy Parade

FRONTIERLAND

  • Splash Mountain

  • FP- Thunder Mountain

LIBERTY SQUARE

  • FP- Haunted Mansion

7pm Dinner

  • Talyn’s choice- Skipper Canteen in Adventureland

  • Looking for something more fancy? Try Be our Guest or Cinderellas Castle

FANTASAYLAND

  • It’s a small world

  • Mikey’s PhilharMagic

  • Under the Sea

  • Grab a massive pink Mickey Donut from Cheshire Café in Fantasyland

9pm Happily Ever After Fireworks show!

Magic Kingdom food bucket list

(not to all be eaten in one day)

  • LeFou’s Brew- Gaston’s Tavern in Fantasyland

  • Sweet & Spicy Chicken Waffle sandwich- Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square

  • The Master Cupcake- Be our Guest in Fantasyland (lunch only!)

  • Dole Whip Float- Aloha Isle in Adventureland

  • Mac & Cheese hot dog- Casey’s Corner

  • Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar- Throughout the park

  • Maleficent cone- Storybook Treats

  • Halloween Cinnamon Roll- Main Street Bakery

  • Hades Hatred Drink- Cool Ship in Tomorrowland

  • PUMPKIN SPICE MILKSHAKE-Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies

Hopefully this gives you an idea of the top rides, food, and how to organize your time in the park. What are your favorites at Disney’s Magic Kingdom?

Sincerely,

Sarah
