Spa weekend in Torquay
Summer is officially over.
We just had our last bank holiday here until Christmas. CHRISTMAS. It’s wild to think September is just days away, but it also means my favorite time of year - leaves changing, PSL coffees, and cooler weather. 🍂 These next few months are going to be a chaotic, non-stop grind, so what better way to get in the right headspace then to have a little weekend away. 🧖🏻♀️
I love going down to Devon to visit my friends, as I find the ocean views 🌊 and slower paced life down south to relax me, but thought I’d switch it up this time and try a new area. I chose Torquay because it’s a much easier direct train than some Cornwall areas (just under 3 hours from Paddington) and seemed like there was still quite a bit to see/do!
Here’s a little breakdown of Torquay in case you decide to venture down to Devon too 😊
Torquay things to do
Hike to Meadfoot beach
Walk around the princess garden/harbour
Crime museum
Spa day
Cockington court
Amusement Arcades- K’s or Harbour
Jet skiing & raptor boats
Take the ferry to Paignton for the afternoon
Bowling alley (for those rainy days)
Jam out to live music at Seamus O’Donnells
Visit Anstey’s cove
Torre Abbey sands
Places to eat

The elephant (Michelin star) - the service was amazing, I’d suggest doing the tasting menu to get your money’s worth
Rockfish
The Imperial - breakfast was £15 but unlimited buffet & cuisine from all over the world
Small world tapa - pork belly was amazing
Ephesus
Kalipso coffee - get the Lavender cream coffee & thank me later
Burridge’s tea room

Where to stay
Hampton by Hilton - central location, breakfast included
The grand
The Imperial - We stayed here and the views were gorgeous. You also get access to their health & leisure centre (including spa) which is included in your room cost. Breakfast & parking cost extra though.
The Abbey sands hotel
The headland hotel & spa
Torquay was exactly what I needed- good food, great views, and a whole lot of relaxing. You definitely wouldn’t need more than a weekend to see & do everything here. As much as I enjoyed it, I don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon as I liked Salcombe & St Ives better, but it’s a great stop if you are making your way along the SW coast of England.
Hope this was helpful! Feel free to ask any questions below. 🤗
Sincerely,
Sarah
