How I packed for a week in Iceland in just a carry-on
Summer has officially arrived in London. And while 85 degrees and sunny might sound amazing to most, here in London (where there is no air conditioning) it’s brutally unpleasant 🥵. Makes me wish I was back in Iceland this week!
The key to packing for Iceland = Layers, layers, layers!
With us staying in a new hotel almost every night, I knew I didnt want to be lugging a big case around so I was determined to get it all in my carry on. We came to Iceland in summer (early June), but the weather still ranged from 5C & cloudy all the way up to 15C and sunny one afternoon. This could make it very difficult to pack, but I just brought lots of options to mix & match as well as different sizing so I could stack thermals/pullovers etc if needed.
Packing for Iceland in a carry-on
I should start by saying my carry on is honestly like a mary poppins bag. It holds over 14L which is insane. @Travelpro, feel free to sponsor me next trip 😉
In the suitcase:
2 thermals
1 long sleeve shirt
1 dry wick shirt (gymshark)
3 pairs leggings
1 sweater
2 ‘cuter’ long sleeve tops for dinners
1 pair flare ponte pants
2 sports bras
1 sports tank
1 pair biker shorts
swimsuit
Fashion trainers
Enough socks & undergarments for 9 days (6 days x 1.5)
Pj’s
Patagonia pullover
Waterproof Shell jacket
Curling wand
Towel
In the backpack:
toiletries bag
Electronics bag
Snacks & meds packing cube (thanks Lucy 😘)
extra pair of undergarments
Another swimsuit
Gloves
Beanie
Passport cover with important cards & documents
** Disclaimer: should also say I wore my hiking boots on the plane & then carried my long puffer as those were the heaviest & chunkiest items so saved me a lot of packing space!
What do you think? Are you team checked bag or carry-on?
Sincerely,
Sarah
